Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Test, troubleshoot, assemble, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Prepare tools, equipment, and materials for testing and assembly.
  • Use diagnostic equipment and measuring devices to identify system issues.
  • Assist with FAT, EFAT, and SIT testing.
  • Maintain accurate quality, inspection, and testing documentation.

During your first 90 days, you'll participate in a structured training program while working alongside experienced technicians and engineers. You'll gain hands‑on experience with mechanical, electrical, electronic, and hydraulic systems and develop the troubleshooting skills needed to advance into more specialized technical positions.

What You'll Do

As an Electro‑Hydraulic Technician Intern, you will work under the guidance of experienced technicians and engineers while developing your technical skills. Responsibilities include:

  • Test, troubleshoot, assemble, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Prepare tools, equipment, and materials for testing and assembly.
  • Use diagnostic equipment and measuring devices to identify system issues.
  • Assist with Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Extended Factory Acceptance Tests (EFAT), and System Integration Tests (SIT).
  • Perform functional testing and equipment refurbishment.
  • Maintain accurate quality, inspection, and testing documentation.
  • Learn to identify hydraulic hoses, fittings, components, and systems.
  • Assist with equipment preparation and shipping.
  • Safely handle materials and learn to operate shop equipment.
  • Work closely with senior technicians and engineers to develop troubleshooting and technical skills.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment.
What You Bring

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Technical, vocational, trade school, military, or community college training preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in learning.
  • Comfortable working with hand tools, power tools, and basic measuring equipment.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Comfortable using tablets/iPads and mobile technology.
  • Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills.
  • Good attendance and reliability, especially during the initial 90‑day training period.
  • Willingness to learn new technology, systems, and processes.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when trained.
Technical Foundation

A successful candidate should have a basic understanding of some of the following:

  • Electrical Fundamentals Voltage, current, and resistance Ohm's Law Series and parallel circuits Conductance and insulation Basic wire resistance and wire sizing Proper use of an ohmmeter Schematics Ability to read and interpret basic electrical, electronic, or hydraulic schematics Understanding of common schematic symbols and legends
  • Networking Fundamentals Basic understanding of TCP/IP and network layers LAN vs. WAN IP vs. MAC addresses DHCP Basic understanding of switches, routers, hubs, and modems

Don't worry if you don't have experience with every item listed above. The goal of this position is to develop your technical knowledge through hands‑on training.

Preferred Experience
  • Electrical wiring or electronics coursework
  • Hydraulic coursework or hands‑on experience
  • Experience reading hydraulic or electrical schematics
  • Familiarity with hydraulic hoses and fittings
  • Experience with SAP, TCE, ETU/SmartTool, or similar systems
  • Experience with hydraulic power units
  • Experience with overhead cranes, forklifts, or rigging equipment
  • Previous mechanical, electrical, automotive, HVAC, industrial, or heavy‑equipment experience

Schedule & Training
  • Candidates must be flexible regarding 1st and 2nd shift. First 90 days: Training is conducted on 1st shift. Following successful completion of training, candidates may be assigned to either 1st or 2nd shift based on department needs and availability.

This position is primarily based in a workshop environment and may involve exposure to:
