Job summary

AMA Consulting, LLC is seeking a Workplace Needs Assessment Expert to conduct comprehensive assessments for employees with disabilities, evaluating functional limits, essential job functions, and the workplace environment.

You will collaborate with HR, IT, disability offices, medical providers, and rehabilitation professionals to develop practical accommodation recommendations aligned with ADA and Section 508 requirements, documenting findings and cost estimates.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of ADA, Section 504, Section 508 and disability employment regulations.
  • Experience conducting workplace needs, functional, ergonomic, disability, or reasonable accommodation assessments.
  • Ability to interview employees and stakeholders to identify needs and barriers.
  • Ability to develop clear written assessment reports and actionable recommendations.
  • Ability to collaborate with HR, IT, medical providers, and rehabilitation professionals.
  • Experience handling confidential medical and employee information appropriately.

WORKPLACE NEEDS ASSESSMENT EXPERT

The Workplace Needs Assessment Expert is responsible for conducting comprehensive workplace needs and reasonable accommodation assessments for employees with disabilities. The position evaluates an employee's functional limitations, essential job functions, workplace environment, and technology requirements to identify barriers and develop practical, individualized accommodation recommendations.

This position works collaboratively with employees, supervisors, Human Resources, IT, Disability/Reasonable Accommodation offices, medical providers, and rehabilitation professionals to develop effective accommodation strategies that support employee performance while considering organizational requirements and operations.

Key Responsibilities Include
  • Workplace Needs & Functional Assessments:
  • Conduct comprehensive workplace needs assessments for employees with disabilities.
  • Interview employees and relevant stakeholders to identify functional needs, workplace challenges, and job requirements.
  • Analyze essential job functions and identify physical, technological, environmental, communication, and workflow barriers affecting employee performance.
  • Evaluate functional limitations in relation to specific job tasks and workplace environments.
  • Conduct ergonomic and accessibility evaluations for employees with physical, sensory, cognitive, neurological, learning, speech, and other disabilities.
  • Reasonable Accommodation Consultation:
  • Develop individualized accommodation recommendations based on functional limitations, available medical documentation, essential job functions, and workplace requirements.
  • Provide consultation regarding reasonable accommodations for a broad range of disabilities.
  • Develop implementation plans that balance employee needs with organizational operations and technology environments.
  • Apply ADA, Section 504, Section 508, and other applicable disability employment and accessibility requirements.
  • Utilize Job Accommodation Network (JAN) guidance and recognized accommodation best practices.
  • Assessment Reports & Recommendations:
  • Prepare comprehensive written assessment reports documenting findings and recommendations.
  • Develop clear accommodation implementation plans, including recommended technology, equipment, workplace modifications, services, and estimated costs when applicable.
  • Document the rationale supporting recommendations and identify alternative solutions where appropriate.
  • Maintain complete case documentation while protecting confidential employee and medical information.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with employees, supervisors, Human Resources, IT, Disability/Reasonable Accommodation offices, medical providers, rehabilitation professionals, and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate assessment findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Advise organizations on inclusive workplace practices, accessibility, and effective accommodation implementation.
  • Coordinate with assistive technology professionals when specialized technology evaluations or implementations are required.
Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role
  • Demonstrated experience conducting workplace needs, functional, ergonomic, disability, or reasonable accommodation assessments.
  • Strong knowledge of ADA, Section 504, Section 508, and applicable disability employment regulations.
  • Experience evaluating essential job functions and identifying barriers affecting employee performance.
  • Knowledge of reasonable accommodation strategies for individuals with physical, visual, hearing, cognitive, neurological, learning, speech, and mental health disabilities.
  • Strong interviewing and assessment skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop clear written assessment reports and actionable accommodation recommendations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with employees, management, HR, IT, medical providers, and rehabilitation professionals.
  • Ability to manage multiple assessments and prioritize competing requests.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential medical and employee information appropriately.

  • Assistive Technology Applications Certificate Program (ATACP) or equivalent.
  • Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC).
  • Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist or comparable credential.
