Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated Fitting Working Leaderman with at least 5 years of assembly/prefab structural welding/fitting experience. The candidate will direct their workforce in the successful implementation of craft-specific activities as it relates to associated shipbuilding and/or repair functions.

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of 5 years of assembly/prefab structural welding/fitting experience
• Prior supervision experience is preferred

SKILLS

• Basic knowledge of welding/fitting specific processes and techniques in addition to being familiar with standard marine practices and general specifications for construction
• Experience in structural fabrication and the ability to read/understand drawings is required
• Previous supervisory experience is a plus
• Must be able to communicate effectively with employees, work well with others, and have the ability to plan/schedule craft-specific work tasks
• Must have a strong focus on quality, production, safety, and environmental aspects of work being performed

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Utilizes knowledge of the working characteristics of metallic and non-metallic materials, including the specifications of the equipment to be used in the welding process
• Performs tank testing and associated duties as required
