Job summary

Eversource Energy is seeking a Field Supervisor-Lines to oversee line crews in installing and maintaining underground and overhead distribution systems. The role includes managing equipment, records, and tailboard documentation, plus training and mentoring staff to follow safety rules.

Candidates should have a High School diploma and at least three years as a Line-worker I (RG 34.5). A CDL Class A with Special Trailer Endorsement is required, and travel between NH/MA/CT may be needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or the equivalent.
• Three years as a Line-worker I (RG 34.5).
• Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise line crew(s) in installing, maintaining, repairing underground and overhead distribution systems.
• Oversee equipment, materials, and records including timesheets and tailboard docs.
• Train and mentor line-workers to follow safety rules and procedures.
• Evaluate performance and initiate additional training or corrective action.
• Coordinate and schedule work assignments to meet schedules and budgets.
• Perform tailboard and vehicle inspections; ensure on-time completion within budget.
• Provide first response to off-hour emergencies and coordinate staffing when needed.
• Work with emergency services to ensure a safe site and environment.
• Enforce company environmental policies on each job site.
• Interpret policies and procedures; work with departments and vendors as needed.

Essential Functions:Supervises line crew(s) involved in the installation, maintenance and repairs of the underground and overhead electric distribution systemOversees equipment, materials, and record-keeping duties to include completion of time sheets for crew members as well as tailboard documentation.Trains, instructs, and mentors Line-workers to ensure that safety rules and procedures are followedEvaluates the performance of each crew member and initiates additional training or corrective action as may be necessary to bring performance up to standardRecommend promotions, demotions and discipline through proper documentationCoordinates and schedules work assignmentsConducts tailboards, and truck and trailer inspectionsEnsures all work is completed in a timely manner, on schedule, and within budgetProvides first response coverage to off-hour emergency trouble calls and investigates, corrects, and clears trouble. In the event of high trouble call volume, ensures proper staffing has been accomplishedAccepts standby duty responsibilities throughout the year, which consists of being available via telephone and/or pager during this duty; accepts temporary responsibility for Field Supervisor-Lines and Supervisor-Distribution Lines in the daily operation of the Area Work Center in their absenceWorks with emergency services, such as fire and police to accomplish a safe environmentEnforces Company environmental policies and procedures on each job siteIdentifies appropriate procedural methods; and make decisions based on analysis of informationWorks effectively with subordinates; superiors, interfacing departments and vendorsAnalyzes operational methods and develops improved procedures as neededInterprets Company policies, procedures and practicesPerforms the duties of a Line-worker I (RG 34.5)Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:Technical Knowledge/Skill:Knowledge of and the ability to apply electrical theoryComplete working understanding of Company line work practices and policies is required.Ability to become a certified rubber glover of 34.5 kV.Employee weight limit for this position is 300 pounds.Must live within 30 minutes of the Area Work CenterRequires mechanical aptitude, manual and finger dexterity,Ability to communicate effectively, follow instructions and climb and work on poles and structures.To qualify for the position an individual must meet the requirements associated with standby coverage, and provide such coverageEducation:High School diploma or the equivalent and a combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Line-worker I (RG 34.5) is required.Experience:Minimum of three (3) years as a Line-worker I (RG 34.5). Supervisory experience is preferred.Licenses & Certifications:Commercial Driver's license (Class A with Special Trailer Endorsement) and a safe driving record is also requiredWorking Conditions:Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.Will be required to work overtime when neededCompensation and Benefits:Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program.
