Job description

About Us

Radon Professional Services (RPS) has been a trusted leader in radon testing, mitigation, and consulting for more than 30 years. Based in Jacksonville, Florida, we specialize in designing and installing radon mitigation systems for commercial and residential construction projects throughout Florida and the Southeast.

As our business continues to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Working Foreman to lead our field crew and play a key role in delivering quality installations across our projects.

What You’ll Do

This is a hands‑on leadership position for someone who knows commercial construction, enjoys solving problems, and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves alongside their crew. You’ll be responsible for overseeing daily field operations, ensuring installations are completed safely and efficiently, and serving as a primary point of contact on job sites.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and work alongside a crew of field technicians on commercial new construction projects.
  • Interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and site plans to accurately lay out radon mitigation systems, including sub-slab piping and associated components.
  • Perform new construction site layouts using architectural plans and surveyor markings.
  • Conduct field material takeoffs, determine material quantities, and coordinate necessary supplies for installations.
  • Apply practical knowledge of framing, electrical systems, and general construction practices to complete installations and troubleshoot field challenges.
  • Coordinate with general contractors, project managers, and other trades to ensure work is completed according to project specifications and construction schedules.
  • Troubleshoot unexpected site conditions, make sound field decisions, and keep projects moving efficiently.
  • Monitor crew productivity, workmanship, and adherence to safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate job documentation, including installation photos and progress updates.
What We’re Looking For
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including frequent overnight stays. Most projects are located throughout Florida, with occasional travel to other southeastern states.
  • Strong hands‑on experience in commercial construction, particularly new construction projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and independently perform construction site layouts.
  • Previous experience as a working foreman, crew leader, lead installer, or similar hands‑on supervisory role.
  • Working knowledge of framing, electrical systems, and general construction methods.
  • Experience performing field material takeoffs and determining material requirements.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities, with the confidence to make decisions in the field.
  • Ability to lead an established crew, earn the respect of team members, and maintain productivity.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort interacting directly with general contractors, project managers, and other trades.
  • Willingness to perform physical, hands‑on construction work alongside the crew.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification preferred but not required. Willingness to obtain certification upon employment is expected.

Previous experience with radon mitigation systems is a plus, but not required. We’re more interested in finding someone with a strong construction background, leadership skills, and the ability to learn our specialized industry. Travel expenses covered for out-of-town projects, including a $50 daily per diem, company‑provided lodging, vehicle, and fuel. Travel time is compensated at the employee’s regular hourly rate, whether driving or riding as a passenger.
