Job summary

South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce (DEW) seeks a Workforce Specialist in the Employment Services division to help jobseekers access guidance, referrals, assessments, and résumé help. SC Works Centers across the state are coordinated to connect people with employers and new opportunities.

The role supports travel to Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens counties and collaborates with Business Consultants to place candidates in openings while building community referrals and workshop

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma with 4+ years in customer service, recruitment, screening, interviewing, counseling or related fields.
• Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years in customer service, recruitment, screening, interviewing, counseling or related fields.

Job Description

Our Workforce Specialist serves within the Employment Services (ES) division. ES programs improve the functioning of the labor market by bringing together individuals who are seeking employment and employers who are seeking workers. The SC Works system provides jobseekers with career guidance, job referrals, assessments, and résumé assistance. Free tools to assist employers include posting job openings, recruiting and screening candidates, and reviewing job market trends. South Carolina’s 12 local workforce development boards administer the SC Works Centers throughout the state.

The Workforce Specialist reports to the Employment Services Division in the Worklink Region. This role delivers a broad range of services to assist individuals in resolving barriers to employment and increasing skills to obtain or maintain employment.

This position may require scheduled travel to the following counties: Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens.

Key Responsibilities

• Educate individuals on DEW programs, policies, and services, assist with all services within the SC Works Center, and perform resource room activities and outreach.
• Ensure timely, professional, and attentive customer service.
• Collaborate with co-workers, management, and partner staff for scheduling activities.
• Refer qualified applicants to jobs posted through SC Works.
• Work directly with Business Consultants to match customers and clients to position openings.
• Develop relationships with community resources for seamless referrals.
• Promote SC Works services through community and center workshops and activities.
• Provide ongoing support to SC Works Centers and all Workforce programs.

Education and Experience

A high school diploma with a minimum of four years of experience in customer service, recruitment, selection, interviewing, counseling, case management or a related field.

Bachelor's degree with at least two years of experience in customer service, recruitment, selection, interviewing, counseling, case management or a related field.
