Job Description

Purpose and Scope

Provides direction, teaching, and support for HVAC courseobjectives and contributes to the educational environment of theLone Star College System and the community. Responsibilitiesinclude teaching and advising students. Primary functions are toplan, maintain, access, and teach courses within the curriculum ina manner that facilitates student success and studentlearning.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

1. Teaches courses in HVAC at a variety of times and locations inresponse to institutional needs, making continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizinginnovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods
2. Develops and uses a syllabus for each course or laboratorywithin college and departmental guidelines
3. Evaluates students to measure their progress toward achievementof stated course objectives and informs them in a timely manner oftheir progress in the course. Identifies and assesses student whoare in need of additional instruction to successfully complete thecourse objectives
4. Responsible for recruiting and advising students in theirarea
5. Responsible for managing their classrooms and labs, includingassuring lab facilities meet state requirements
6. Responsible for assisting with student job placement
7. Works directly with certification agencies to ensure alignmentand high level of program and student success
8. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties asassigned

Work Schedule and Conditions

• Responsibilities of this position will include facilitationof online learning during the week and in-person HVAC lab sectionson Saturday and Sunday at the LSC-Magnolia Center for the program'shybrid courses. Lab sections will include holiday weekends toensure all content is delivered within the specified timeframe ofthe course schedule.
• PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windowsenvironment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment.Equipment generally associated with this area
• Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out thefunctions of the position
• Work is performed primarily in a climate controlled officeenvironment with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree in AC/Heating & Refrigeration and atleast 3 years non-teaching work experience in the field
• EPA Universal Certifications

Preferred Qualifications

• TACL license (Texas Air Conditioning License)
• At least 4 years of provable HVAC work experience out of thelast 6 years in the residential and commercial workplace

Salary

Commensurate with education, experience and qualifications but willbe no less than $61,390.
