Job summary

Google Cloud Finance is seeking a Workforce Planning (WFP) Lead who will shape how we plan, deploy, and optimize global talent. You will partner with Cloud leadership, oversee headcount and payroll planning, and guide budgeting for a multi-billion-dollar expense and a large workforce.

You will drive cross-functional coordination with POps, S&O, and Finance, leading headcount planning cadences and replanning cycles to ensure alignment and fiscal accountability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or another quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7 years of FP&A experience or equivalent.
• Experience executing full-cycle FP&A functions including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and modeling within a multinational company setting.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary WFP business partner and advisor to Cloud executive leadership, translating investment priorities into capacity models.
• Act as the central coordination hub bridging internal Finance teams with external business partners and synchronize Headcount and Payroll cost planning.
• Lead productivity analyses and AI-driven modeling across GTM and Engineering to optimize global talent distribution.
• Provide leadership translating growth strategies into measurable workforce scorecards and ROI metrics.
• Establish a single source of truth at enterprise scale for workforce data and actionable guidance.

Job description

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or another quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7 years of experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), consulting, or a related function, or an advanced degree.

Preferred qualifications:

• 10 years of FP&A, strategy, or workforce planning experience, with expertise managing enterprise-scale, multibillion-dollar budgets ($10B+) and large global workforces (40k+).
• Experience leading complex workforce strategies, structuring large headcount datasets, and delivering strategic talent recommendations to executives.
• Expertise in workforce planning tools and advanced analytics, leveraging AI-driven automation to streamline headcount forecasting and solve capacity constraints.
• Exceptional executive presence and communication skills, with a proven ability to advise C-suite leadership and build trusted partnerships.
• Exceptional financial acumen and operational, with the ability to navigate shifting priorities, test traditional headcount models, and maximize the ROI of talent investments.

As the Workforce Planning (WFP) Lead for Google Cloud Finance, you will architect the future of how Google Cloud plans, deploys, and optimizes its global talent. You will oversee central analytics and subject matter expertise for Headcount and Payroll planning to support managing approximately $21B of projected cost and a workforce of +46k. You will act as the primary Finance partner for workforce strategy, advising Cloud leadership and their Strategy teams on critical resource allocation decisions.

You will lead the operational cadence of headcount planning, in year projects, replanning to ensure alignment across People Operations (POps), Strategy and Operations (S&O), and broader Finance organizations.

This position is at the intersection of Finance, Strategy and Operations and People Operations. You will drive the transformation of workforce planning in Cloud, using your investigative skills, excellent relationship skills, and solid business partnering, you will help manage one of Google’s largest expenses to drive sustainable growth. You will play a key role in effective budget management, business reviews, process transformations across multiple Cloud leaders and functions. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $141000 - $205000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

• Serve as the primary WFP business partner and advisor to Cloud executive leadership, translating investment priorities into sophisticated capacity models to bridge finance and business execution.
• Act as the central coordination hub bridging internal Finance teams with external business partners. Synchronize Google Cloud Headcount and Payroll cost planning, forecasting, and complex cycles to ensure seamless alignment and deep fiscal accountability.
• Lead productivity analysis and AI-driven modeling across Go-to-market (GTM) and Engineering, leveraging metrics to optimize global talent distribution and measure the efficiency gains of internal AI tools.
• Provide thought leadership to translate Cloud executive growth strategies into measurable workforce scorecards (e.g., talent density, productivity ROI), balancing headcount capacity tradeoffs where priorities overlap.
• Establish a single source of truth at enterprise scale, architecting a connected, accurate workforce data foundation that delivers actionable guidance to partners.
