Job description

Safety Administrator – Workers’ Compensation & Manufacturing Safety

A leading manufacturing organization is seeking a Safety Administrator with strong experience in Workers’ Compensation, occupational health, and plant safety.

This role will have significant responsibility for managing the Workers’ Compensation process from the initial claim through recovery and return to work. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working directly with employees, medical providers, supervisors, and safety leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The position will also support OSHA compliance, safety programs, employee training, medical surveillance, and overall plant safety administration. The source job description specifically includes responsibility for maintaining the Workers’ Compensation program, tracking claims, communicating with employees and medical providers, and maintaining a strong light-duty program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day Workers’ Compensation program
  • Enter and maintain Workers’ Compensation claims and documentation
  • Track claim status and follow cases through resolution
  • Communicate regularly with injured employees, medical providers, supervisors, and internal leadership
  • Coordinate and maintain an effective light-duty / return-to-work program
  • Help ensure employees are returned to productive work safely and appropriately
  • Maintain accurate Workers’ Compensation and occupational health records
  • Maintain the OSHA 300 Log and support OSHA recordkeeping requirements
  • Provide guidance regarding OSHA compliance, safety policies, and procedures
  • Support the administration and continuous improvement of plant safety programs
  • Assist with safety training for employees, supervisors, leads, and managers
  • Develop and maintain safety communications and Toolbox Talks
  • Coordinate audiograms, respirator physicals, fit testing, and other required medical surveillance activities
  • Maintain documentation associated with occupational health and medical surveillance programs
  • Support safety audits, KPIs, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assist with ISO 45001 and other safety-management-system activities
What We’re Looking For
  • 3-5+ years of relevant safety, Workers’ Compensation, occupational health, or manufacturing experience preferred
  • Previous Workers’ Compensation claims management experience strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, steel, metals, automotive, heavy manufacturing, or similar plant environment
  • Strong understanding of OSHA recordkeeping and OSHA 1904
  • Experience managing or coordinating return-to-work and light-duty programs
  • Comfortable communicating with medical providers and following employee cases through treatment and return to work
  • Previous safety auditing or safety training experience is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety or a related field preferred, but relevant experience will be strongly considered
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization, documentation, and follow-up skills
  • Ability to handle confidential employee and medical information professionally
Ideal Background

This position would be a strong fit for someone currently working as a:

Workers’ Compensation Coordinator, Safety Administrator, EHS Coordinator, Occupational Health Coordinator, Safety Specialist, Workers’ Compensation Specialist, Claims Coordinator, or Return-to-Work Coordinator within a manufacturing operation.

The strongest candidate will be someone who understands that Workers’ Compensation in manufacturing is more than processing paperwork. It requires staying on top of claims, communicating with employees and providers, coordinating restrictions with plant operations, maintaining productive light-duty opportunities, and helping employees safely return to full duty.

This is an on-site manufacturing position that requires regular interaction with the plant environment. The role may involve walking production areas and requires compliance with applicable PPE and facility safety requirements. The original description also notes regular plant mobility and the potential to occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Why This Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys the intersection of Workers’ Compensation, employee care, safety, and manufacturing operations. You’ll have direct involvement in claims and return-to-work efforts while also contributing to the broader safety performance of a large industrial operation.
