POSITION SUMMARY: Goldberg Segalla, a dynamic and rapidly growing law firm with a national practice, seeks highly motivated and organized individuals to provide paralegal support for Workers' Compensation attorneys in our Orange County, CA office. This role involves a combination of administrative and substantive legal work, ensuring cases are well-organized and efficiently managed.

- Communication Skills: Ability to document and present legal research and related information promptly to supervising attorneys.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using computers for legal research and other legal tasks. Familiarity with software (e.g., Microsoft Suite) for organizing and maintaining legal documents.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to develop good relationships with clients and professionals, making clients comfortable sharing personal case information. Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to handle pressure and manage multiple cases in a fast-paced environment with changing deadlines.
- Research Skills: Strong research and investigative skills for conducting legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and articles.
TARGET BILLABLE HOUR REQUIREMENTS:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Outlook, TEAMS, Calendar, and Excel.
- Coordinate Independent Medical Examinations to assist with defense of claims.
- Analyze legal documents for accuracy.
- Assist attorneys with the defense of workers’ compensation claims.
- Conduct legal research related to workers’ compensation laws and regulations.
- Manage billable time entries daily.
- Communicate professionally and tactfully with clients, insurance companies, medical providers, and attorneys to relay information and defend claims.
- Collect and analyze documents to assist with litigation.
- Understand legal documents and terminology related to Workers’ Compensation.
- Maintain confidentiality of client information in accordance with firm policies.
- Jump into existing caseloads and move cases forward.
- Prepare relevant documents and substantive correspondences.
- Provide status reports and recommendations to attorneys throughout litigation stages.
- Save all emails, documents, and filings in the document management system.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES & EXPERIENCE:
- Associate’s degree or higher, with over 3 years of experience; paralegal certification preferred.
- Workers’ Compensation experience preferred.
- Clear communication skills in English.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to assess data and documents in printed and digital formats.
- Willingness to work beyond normal hours.
- Team-oriented with the ability to work independently within guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Benefits:
This role offers an hourly salary with bonus opportunities. The salary range is $28.00 to $40.00 per hour, based on experience and other factors. The position includes a full benefits package, such as health insurance, dental, life insurance, a 401(k), flexible spending, and more.
