Job summary

Sora Resource Group in Manchester, NH is seeking an associate to manage civil litigation matters from inception through resolution, including professional liability, tort and workers' compensation.

You will draft pleadings, handle discovery, prepare for depositions, and represent clients in NH state and federal courts, while collaborating with partners and senior attorneys in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor required from ABA-accredited law school.
• Active admission to the New Hampshire State Bar.
• 1 year of civil litigation experience; 1–3 years preferred.
• Experience in NH state and federal courts.
• Experience with Professional Liability, Tort, or Workers' Compensation preferred.
• Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
• Ability to draft pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
• Experience taking depositions.
• Ability to manage deadlines and multiple cases.

Responsibilities

• Manage civil litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Handle matters involving Professional Liability, Tort and Liability Defense, and Workers' Compensation.
• Manage assigned caseloads while collaborating with partners and senior attorneys.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, legal memoranda, and status reports.
• Conduct legal research to support litigation strategy and case development.
• Monitor case deadlines and ensure timely completion of litigation activities.
• Maintain organized case files and documentation throughout the litigation process.
• Respond to discovery requests and assist with all phases of discovery.
• Prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, and trials.
• Take and defend fact witness and expert witness depositions.
• Draft and argue dispositive motions.
• Prepare litigation materials and support effective case presentation.
• Represent and advocate for clients in New Hampshire state and federal courts.
• Ensure compliance with court rules, deadlines, and scheduling requirements.
• Conduct in-depth legal research and prepare memoranda to support case strategy.
• Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status, developments, and litigation strategy.
• Prepare interim status reports and provide clear legal updates to clients.
• Collaborate with partners, senior attorneys, experts, clients, and legal support staff to develop effective litigation strategies.
• Maintain professional and responsive client relationships.
• Contribute to a respectful, collaborative, and inclusive team environment while independently managing assigned matters.
• Take meaningful responsibility for assigned litigation matters under the guidance of experienced attorneys.
• Develop litigation, advocacy, legal research, writing, deposition, and courtroom skills through hands-on experience.
• Work alongside experienced attorneys on diverse and challenging civil litigation matters.
• Maintain compliance with firm policies, court rules, and applicable ethical standards.
