Job summary

Florida League of Cities in Orlando, FL is seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster to join our team. This role focuses on managing complex workers’ compensation lost-time claims in a collaborative environment that supports professional growth and work-life balance.

The successful candidate will determine coverage and compensability, conduct thorough investigations, negotiate settlements, and maintain accurate claim documentation while adhering to Florida law.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Business Administration, or related field preferred; or High school diploma/GED with 3–5 years of workers’ compensation claims handling experience.
  • Current and valid Florida Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster License required.
  • Strong knowledge of Florida workers’ compensation laws and regulations.
  • Ability to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve claims.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build professional relationships with members, injured workers, attorneys, medical providers, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Determine coverage and compensability of workers’ compensation claims.
  • Review and establish claim files after First Notice of Injury.
  • Conduct thorough investigations with claimants, employers, witnesses, medical providers, attorneys, and other relevant parties.
  • Obtain recorded statements when necessary.
  • Evaluate claims and decide reserves, compensability, and settlement opportunities.
  • Negotiate settlements via phone and written communications.
  • Maintain accurate claim documentation and manage diaries.
  • Pursue subrogation and recovery opportunities.
  • Participate in training to maintain industry knowledge.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism; travel as required.

The Florida League of Cities is seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster to join our team. Hybrid Work Schedule: After successful completion of six (6) months of employment, employees are eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, working three days in the office and two days remotely.

Position Summary

The Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster investigates, evaluates, negotiates, and resolves workers’ compensation lost‑time claims. This position serves as a key resource for members, providers, injured workers, attorneys, and other stakeholders while ensuring claims are managed effectively and in compliance with Florida law.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Determine coverage and compensability of workers’ compensation claims.
  • Review and establish claim files upon receipt of First Notice of Injury.
  • Conduct thorough investigations by obtaining information from claimants, employers, witnesses, medical providers, attorneys, and other relevant parties.
  • Obtain recorded statements when necessary.
  • Evaluate claims and make sound decisions regarding reserves, compensability, and settlement opportunities.
  • Negotiate settlements through telephone and written communications.
  • Resolve claims within established settlement authority.
  • Maintain accurate and complete claim documentation.
  • Manage diaries and follow‑up activities to ensure timely claim handling.
  • Pursue subrogation, SDF recoveries, and other recovery opportunities.
  • Participate in training and continuing education to maintain industry knowledge and compliance.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of claim handling.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned with occasional travel as required.
Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of Florida Workers’ Compensation laws and regulations.
  • Ability to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve claims effectively.
