We have an exciting opportunity for a remote (with occasional travel) Workers' Compensation Attorney. You will handle workers' compensation cases, conduct depositions, and represent Liberty Mutual and its policyholders at WC hearings in California. You will also collaborate with Liberty Mutual's Workers' Compensation claims team.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and revise legal strategies for discovery, investigation, and trial or hearing of cases using Litigation Protocols.
2. Appear before workers' compensation boards, conduct depositions, and handle legal filings including summations, appeals, and rebuttals.
3. Research applicable law; draft legal documents, pleadings, motions, briefs, and opinions; conduct settlement negotiations if requested.
4. Communicate with Claims Representatives and Insured Clients, providing clear legal opinions and maintaining good relations.
5. Stay current with legal developments and understand relevant medical, scientific, construction, and engineering issues.
6. Prepare and deliver training sessions for Legal, Claims, or other departments.
7. Utilize technology creatively to improve legal processes, reduce costs, and enhance quality.
8. Coordinate with the Home Office Legal department.

Qualifications

What you bring:

Experience:

• Membership in the California Bar.
• Special licenses to practice before boards or federal courts are preferred.
• At least three years of experience as an attorney.

Skills:

• Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external partners.
• Analytical and detail-oriented thinking.
• Organized, process-driven, and capable of meeting deadlines.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge:

• Up-to-date with legal practice developments and related fields.
• Familiarity with insurance and workers' compensation law.
• Proficiency with technology that reduces costs and supports remote legal work.

Education:

• JD degree.
