CyberCoders seeks an experienced Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney in Alpharetta, GA to join our legal team. The attorney represents employers, insurers, and third-party administrators in workers' compensation matters, focusing on defense litigation, strategy, and client counseling.

The role requires strong courtroom experience and the ability to manage a high-volume caseload while delivering cost-effective solutions for clients. Travel to hearings and client sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited law school and active bar admission in the state(s) of practice.
  • 4–6 years of litigation experience, with workers' compensation defense preferred.
  • Experience in hearings, trials, and appellate matters in workers' compensation law.
  • Strong litigation skills: motion practice, discovery, trial preparation.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with claims handling, insurance defense, medical terminology, and rehab issues.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a full docket of workers' compensation cases for employers and carriers.
  • Prepare and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and trial briefs.
  • Handle hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials in workers' comp forums.
  • Develop defense strategies based on factual and legal analysis.
  • Counsel clients on claims handling, subrogation, return-to-work, and compliance.
  • Negotiate settlements and structure agreements to protect clients.
  • Collaborate with claims adjusters, medical experts, and outside counsel.
  • Maintain case files, timelines, and billing records; report KPIs.
  • Stay current on law changes and provide client seminars as needed.

Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney
Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney to join our legal team. The attorney will represent employers, insurers, and third-party administrators in all aspects of workers' compensation matters, with a focus on defense litigation, legal strategy, and client counseling. The role requires strong courtroom experience, knowledge of state workers' compensation laws and procedures, and the ability to manage a high-volume caseload while delivering practical, cost-effective solutions for clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a full docket of workers' compensation cases representing employers, carriers, and third-party administrators from inception through resolution.
  • Prepare and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and trial briefs; handle hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials in workers' compensation forums and related courts.
  • Develop defense strategies based on factual and legal analysis; evaluate claims, identify coverage defenses, and recommend litigation or settlement approaches to clients.
  • Counsel clients on claims handling, subrogation, vocational rehabilitation, return-to-work issues, and compliance with applicable statutes and regulations.
  • Negotiate settlements and structure agreements that protect client interests while minimizing liability and cost.
  • Work closely with claims adjusters, medical experts, vocational evaluators, and outside counsel to investigate cases, obtain medical records, and build evidence-based defenses.
  • Maintain accurate case files, timelines, and billing records; meet firm and client reporting requirements and key performance metrics.
  • Stay current on changes in workers' compensation law, relevant case law, and regulatory developments; provide training or seminars to clients and colleagues as needed.
  • Participate in business development activities, including client meetings, proposals, and networking to grow the workers' compensation practice.
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar admission in the state(s) of practice.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of litigation experience, with substantial experience defending workers' compensation claims preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in workers' compensation law, including hearings, trials, and appellate matters.
  • Strong litigation skills: motion practice, discovery, trial preparation, and courtroom advocacy.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and written and oral communication skills; ability to present complex legal concepts clearly to clients and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage a high-volume caseload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with claims handling processes, insurance defense strategies, medical terminology, and vocational rehabilitation issues.
  • Professionalism, sound judgment, and a client-service orientation; proven success working collaboratively with claims teams and outside experts.
  • Willingness to travel to hearings and client sites as required; ability to participate in business development and client relationship-building activities.
