Job summary

Lawley in Buffalo, NY seeks a Worker’s Compensation Claims Advocate. You will act as a liaison among the agency, carriers, and clients, serving as the first point of contact for new claims with courtesy and assistance throughout the process.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of NYS workers’ compensation lost-time adjuster experience and a P&C license (adjuster license preferred). Lawley offers hybrid/remote flexibility, strong benefits, and a supportive, family-owned culture.

Qualifications

• 3+ years as NYS workers’ compensation lost-time adjuster.
• License: P&C adjuster preferred; active NY and other states acceptable.
• Knowledge of multi-state WC claims handling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between agency, carriers and clients to sustain strong relationships.
• Be first contact for new claims, guiding clients with courtesy and assistance.
• Promptly address client inquiries and maintain open diaries for claims.
• Conduct claim reviews and ensure proper reserving and handling.
• Perform experience mod analyses after proper training.
• Participate in client presentations and assist in training teammates.
• Act as backup for claims reporting and support additional duties as needed.

Due to an internal promotion, Lawley is in search of a Worker’s Compensation Claims Advocate in Buffalo, NY! This position will act as a liaison between the agency, carriers and clients maintaining effective working relationships. Along with being the first point of contact for new claims, extending full courtesy and assistance to clients on new claims and throughout the claims process with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate has at least three (3) years’ of experience as a NYS workers’ compensation lost time adjuster and a P&C license (adjuster’s license preferred). These are the fundamental components of the job:

• Act as a liaison between the agency, carriers and clients maintaining effective working relationships.
• First point of contact for new claims, extending full courtesy and assistance to clients on new claims and throughout the claims process with minimal supervision.

• Conduct claim reviews and follow up on open claim diaries to ensure proper claims handling and reserving.

• Position will assist in training and mentoring other associates.

Other functions of the job:

• Serves as a backup for claims reporting.
• Expand and grow in your role when supporting miscellaneous duties as requested.

Skills / traits that we value for this role:

• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a NYS workers’ compensation lost time adjuster. Experience handling CT, PA, FL, and NJ workers’ compensation lost time claims is a plus.
• Adjuster license preferred (NY and other states).
• Property/Casualty license and/or claims-related designation preferred
• Relevant knowledge of commercial Insurance claims adjustment and evaluation process.
• Exceptional client service and follow-up skills and the demonstrated ability to build internal and external relationships.
• Incredible attention to detail and organizational skills.

The compensation range for this position takes many factors into consideration including but not limited to: years of experience/training, skill set, and licenses/designations. It is not typical for an individual to be hired near the top of the range for a position as circumstances and location can vary in every hiring situation. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $56,750 to $101,279.75.
