Job summary

Davies North America is seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Claims Supervisor to lead a team of Adjusters, Nurse Case Managers, and Assistants. The role ensures high-quality claim handling, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction while promoting collaboration and development.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years WC claims experience, prior leadership, and a client-focused approach. You will mentor staff, manage performance metrics, and partner with clients to optimize service

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Workers’ Compensation claims handling experience.
  • Prior supervisory or mentoring experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of Workers’ Compensation statutes, regulations, and case law.
  • Experience with reserves, medical management, return-to-work, litigation management, and settlements.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support Workers’ Compensation Adjusters, Nurse Case Managers, and Claims Assistants.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to team members.
  • Assist in training, onboarding, and professional development efforts.
  • Identify performance gaps and develop action plans to improve employee performance and productivity.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and participate in leadership meetings.
  • Promote a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team environment.
  • Assist with interviewing and evaluating candidates for open positions.
  • Review new claim assignments for coverage concerns, compensability issues, recovery opportunities, and potential claim exposures.
  • Ensure claims are managed in accordance with client requirements, company standards, and applicable WC statutes and regulations.
  • Monitor claim handling activities, including compensability investigations, medical management, return-to-work, reserves, indemnity and medical payments, litigation management, subrogation, and timely reporting.
  • Provide guidance on complex claims, litigated matters, settlements, and large-loss exposures.
  • Ensure timely escalation of significant claim concerns and client issues.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and stakeholders; participate in client meetings and stewardship discussions.
  • Address client concerns and identify opportunities to improve service delivery.
  • Maintain documentation of client communications and account activities.
  • Monitor claim quality, service standards, and workflow performance.
  • Ensure timely state filings and documentation; review files for regulatory compliance and best practices.
  • Partner with QA and leadership to identify trends and implement process improvements.
  • Assist in maintaining claim closure and performance goals across the team.
  • Coordinate workload distribution and coverage during absences; assist with staffing needs and resource planning.
  • Escalate personnel, client, or operational concerns to senior leadership; support special projects.

Davies Claims North America is seeking an experienced Claims Supervisor to lead a team of Workers’ Compensation professionals, including Adjusters, Nurse Case Managers, and Claims Assistants. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality claim handling, regulatory compliance, client satisfaction, and team performance while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous development.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical Workers’ Compensation expertise, demonstrated leadership experience, and the ability to mentor and develop claims professionals while maintaining a client-focused approach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support Workers’ Compensation Adjusters, Nurse Case Managers, and Claims Assistants.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to team members.
  • Assist in training, onboarding, and professional development efforts.
  • Identify performance gaps and develop action plans to improve employee performance and productivity.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and participate in leadership meetings.

  • Ensure timely escalation of significant claim concerns and client issues.
  • Maintain regular communication with assigned clients and stakeholders.
  • Participate in client meetings, claim reviews, and stewardship discussions.

  • Ensure claim handling aligns with client-specific instructions and expectations.
  • Maintain documentation of client communications and account activities.

  • Assist with staffing needs and resource planning.
  • Escalate personnel, client, or operational concerns to senior leadership as appropriate.
  • Support special projects and other duties as assigned.
Skills, knowledge & expertise
  • 5+ years of Workers’ Compensation claims handling experience required.
  • Prior supervisory, team lead, or mentoring experience strongly preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of Workers’ Compensation statutes, regulations, claims practices, and case law.
  • Strong understanding of compensability investigations, medical management, return-to-work programs, litigation management, and settlement strategies.
  • Experience reviewing reserves and managing claim performance metrics.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
