Job summary

National Interstate Insurance Company in the United States is seeking a California-based Senior Workers' Comp Claims Specialist to join the team. This fully remote role manages highly complex claims from across the USA, guiding investigations, coverage determinations and settlements.

The ideal candidate has 13+ years in property and casualty claims, a related bachelor's degree, and a designation such as AIC, with strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 13 years in property and casualty claims handling.
• Professional designation such as Associate in Claims (AIC) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages a large inventory of highly complex claims to evaluate compensability/liability.
• Leads investigations to confirm coverage and determine liability, compensability and damages.
• Analyzes and negotiates settlements/reserves within authority; may attend arbitrations or trials.
• Conveys complex information regarding coverage and settlements to insureds and external partners.
• Authorizes payments within authority limits and ensures timely disbursement.
• Maintains detailed claim files and records; may coach staff and participate in talent decisions.
