Job summary

Hedrick Gardner Kincheloe & Garofalo LLP in North Carolina seeks an Associate Attorney to join its Workers’ Compensation practice. You will defend claims for employers, carriers, and self-insureds, and gain substantial hands-on litigation experience in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.

The ideal candidate holds a JD, NC license, and has at least one year of workers’ compensation defense exposure, with strong writing and advocacy skills for depositions, motions, and hearings.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active North Carolina license required.
• Minimum of one year of workers’ compensation defense litigation experience.

Responsibilities

• Handle depositions of claimants, witnesses, medical providers and experts.
• Prepare and argue motions; draft briefs and position statements.
• Represent clients at mediations and hearings before the NC Industrial Commission.
• Manage discovery, negotiate settlements, and prepare client reports.
• Maintain regular client communication regarding strategy and case updates.
• Demonstrate strong research, writing, and advocacy throughout the case lifecycle.
