About The Opportunity

Our client, a well-established Midwest law firm, is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Attorney. The ideal candidate will have 3-5+ years of legal experience and a working knowledge of Indiana's workers' compensation law and proceedings.

This position provides an opportunity to work alongside experienced workers' compensation attorneys while taking on increasing responsibility and developing an independent caseload. The successful candidate will receive hands-on mentorship and training across all aspects of workers' compensation litigation, including case management, hearings, arbitration, and appeals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle and assist with workers' compensation matters throughout the litigation process.
  • Conduct substantive legal research and analyze workers' compensation laws and regulations.
  • Develop medical knowledge relevant to workers' compensation litigation and case strategy.
  • Attend and participate in pre-trials, case management conferences, hearings, and other court proceedings.
  • Assist with arbitration hearings and appeals before the appropriate courts and administrative bodies.
  • Manage case files, deadlines, and litigation schedules.
  • Develop and maintain an independent caseload with appropriate mentorship and support.
  • Negotiate settlements and communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide responsive, practical, and high-quality legal representation.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and staff while contributing to a collegial and team-oriented office environment.
Qualifications
  • 3-5+ years of legal experience, preferably with exposure to workers' compensation.
  • Basic to working knowledge of workers' compensation law, hearings, and litigation procedures.
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Illinois or Indiana, or the ability to obtain the appropriate license.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases, priorities, and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong work ethic, professionalism, and commitment to developing a long-term legal career.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and support staff.
