Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a student at McMurry University.
• Pursuing either a Bachelor’s Degree or Minor in English.
• Be classified as either a Junior or Senior student.
• Good academic standing.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic social media proficiency.
• Ability to maintain professionalism.
• Reliable and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Curate and post content on the department's Instagram 2–3 times per week.
• Engage professionally with other McMurry University accounts and followers.
• Attend events to create content (club meetings, screenings, lectures).
• Advertise the English Department faculty and achievements.
• Research and hone social media engagement skills.
• Coordinate weekly work with Dr. Wren.
• Keep a weekly timesheet.

About the Position

The English Department is seeking a motivated and dependable student worker to operate the Department’s Instagram account. This position provides an opportunity to gain professional experience while contributing to the success of our department and the university community.

Primary Responsibilities

Operate the English Department’s official Instagram account. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Curate followers
• Engage professionally with other McMurry University Instagram accounts and other appropriate accounts/followers
• Create content (2-3 posts or stories per week)
• Attend events as needed to create content (English Club meetings/events; film screenings; special guest lectures; etc.)
• Advertise the English Department faculty (accolades; publications; courses; etc.)
• Research and hone social media engagement skills
• Coordinate weekly work with Dr. Wren
• Keep a weekly timesheet
