Job summary

Nebraska Orthopaedic Center, PC is seeking a Work Comp Specialist in Lincoln, NE to manage workers' compensation claims from intake to resolution. The role emphasizes follow-up with insurers, authorization, documentation, and communication with physicians and the work-comp team to coordinate care and status updates.

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, knowledge of workers' compensation processes, strong computer skills, and the ability to work well within a team

Responsibilities

• Follow up on unpaid claims with insurance companies or adjusters.
• Review daily correspondence with insurers, attorneys, and schedulers.

• Post charges for narratives and mail claim documents.
• Maintain communication with physicians and work comp team about status changes.
• Appeal denials and underpayments of claims.
• Set up new Work Comp patients in the system.
• Ensure regular and reliable attendance.

Essential Functions:

• Follow up on unpaid claims with insurance company or adjuster.
• Review and address daily correspondence with insurance companies, attorneys, schedulers, etc.
• Obtain pre-authorization for NOC physician procedures.
• Post charges for narrative reports, depositions, talks, etc. and mail claim/statements to the requesting party.
• Review narrative reports for accuracy and mail to requesting party; communicate with physician as needed.
• Maintain communication with physician, work comp. adjuster/nurse case manager, and patient to discuss change in work status.
• Mail treatment claims with reports to work comp. insurance.
• Responsible for appealing all denials and underpayments of claims.
• Communicate office notes & work status notes to work comp. adjuster or nurse case manager.
• Approve medical records to copy records for insurance or attorney.
• Answer patient's worker's compensation related questions.
• Set up new Work Comp patients in system.
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.
