Job summary

Hopwood Hall College is seeking a qualified Work-Based Assessor to deliver assessment and internal verification for learners on work placements and accredited units. You will guide learners through initial assessment, enrolment, learning progress, and progression while coordinating with employers to track targets and provide progress updates.

You will maintain safeguarding standards, attend relevant meetings, and develop skills through CPD, including VLE platforms.

Qualifications

• Requires L3 qualification in work-based assessing and an Assessor qualification (D34/33/A1).
• Maths and English at Level 2 or equivalent are mandatory.
• Internal Verification qualification (D34/V1) is required.
• Experience supporting learners with additional needs (SEND) is essential.
• Ability to work independently and with a total communication approach across diverse learners.

Responsibilities

• Assessment and monitoring progress of learners according to college and national standards, policies and procedures.
• Plan and deliver a strategy of placement visits/contacts to support learners' progress and work experience placements.
• Monitor health, safety and safeguarding procedures in placements; maintain records and raise concerns with the line manager.
• Liaise with employers to inform training opportunities and provide progress documentation.
• Attend health and safety meetings and report placement concerns and actions as needed.
• Review learners’ work-based practice and select appropriate assessment methods to meet required attitudes, skills and behaviours.
• Set and review targets in line with the college timetable and document on Promonitor.
• Identify learners at risk of not achieving and report to line manager.
• Maintain records (attendance, ILP, planning documents) in line with standards.
• Contribute to internal verification of work-based learning assessments.
• Assist in promoting study programmes and work placement opportunities to learners.
• Keep CPD up-to-date and maintain VLE skills.
