Job summary

Hiebing is seeking a curious, motivated Web Developer to build smart digital experiences with WordPress at the core. You will blend development, troubleshooting, analytics and email work in a collaborative Madison-area team, with hybrid options and client-driven projects.

The role emphasizes WordPress development, plugin/configuration, and integrations, while expanding capabilities for clients and potentially leading the WordPress practice at Hiebing.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional web development with WordPress theme development.
• Experience with Gutenberg block editor and theme/plugin integrations.
• Strong HTML, CSS and JavaScript fundamentals.
• Working knowledge of PHP and WordPress development.
• Experience with WordPress themes, plugins and common marketing-site integrations.
• Ability to troubleshoot and debug effectively.
• Experience with Git-based version control.
• Willingness to work across multiple technical areas and learn independently.
• Familiarity with analytics, tagging and marketing integrations (GA4/GTM).
• Accessibility awareness and WCAG fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance and maintain WordPress websites including blocks and theme customization.
• Troubleshoot plugin conflicts, third-party integrations, browser/device issues and performance problems.
• Support website maintenance, landing pages, forms and content migrations for multiple clients.
• Assist with analytics and tagging implementations using GA4 and GTM, including QA.
• Participate in email development and production, including HTML emails and templating issues.
• Implement and troubleshoot marketing tech integrations across forms and tools.
• Collaborate within Git-based workflows and maintain documentation.
• Work with a cross-disciplinary team to deliver high-quality work and maintain security and accessibility.
