Job summary

BHLG LP is hiring an in-house Web Designer / WordPress Developer to rebuild and improve its website on WordPress, with ongoing design, development, and maintenance. This role is five days a week onsite in Eatontown, NJ and works closely with the Marketing Director to keep the site aligned with campaign and marketing needs.

The position requires strong WordPress development skills, a robust portfolio, and the ability to create responsive, accessible, and SEO-friendly pages.

Qualifications

• Portfolio showing websites you personally designed and built.
• Demonstrated experience developing custom WordPress websites.
• Strong skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
• Experience with WordPress themes, templates, plugins, and editable content structures.
• A strong eye for layout, typography, visual hierarchy, and responsive design.
• Experience taking a website from initial design through development, testing, and launch.
• Working knowledge of accessibility, performance, and technical SEO.
• Familiarity with staging environments, version control, and website migrations.
• Ability to interpret a brief, ask useful questions, manage priorities, and deliver completed work.
• Clear communication and comfort collaborating closely with a marketing lead.

Responsibilities

• Review the current website and determine what needs to be rebuilt, improved, or migrated.
• Create page layouts, wireframes, and mock-ups for review.
• Develop the new WordPress site using custom themes, templates, and reusable components.
• Build an editing experience that lets marketing staff update everyday content without writing code.
• Migrate approved content, images, and resources from the existing site.
• Test and launch the updated website in collaboration with the Marketing Director.
• Design and maintain key site areas including service pages, attorney profiles, articles, resource pages, and campaign landing pages.
• Design navigation, forms, and calls to action, with consistent typography, colors, spacing, and branding.
• Ensure responsive layouts across mobile, tablet, and desktop screens.
• Create or adapt website graphics such as banners and icons, and prepare visual assets by resizing, compressing, and organizing images and downloadable materials.
• Apply accessibility best practices throughout design and development.
• Publish and format website content provided by the marketing team.
• Build and maintain contact forms, newsletter sign-ups, scheduling links, and related integrations.
• Support technical SEO updates with headings, metadata, redirects, and internal linking.
• Set up and test analytics and conversion tracking.
• Troubleshoot broken layouts, links, forms, and other website issues, improving functionality across browsers and devices.
• Maintain WordPress themes and plugins, coordinate backups, and test updates before release.
• Keep website files, code, and documentation organized, and recommend practical improvements based on user behavior, feedback, and campaign needs.
• Continue post-launch work including new campaign landing pages, ongoing publishing, and resolving design and technical issues.
