Job summary

Texas A&M AgriLife is seeking a Software Applications Developer II focused on WordPress and web development in College Station, TX. The role supports front-end and back-end work, theme and plugin development, and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility testing.

You will collaborate with designers, content managers, and project leaders to deliver robust, public-facing WordPress sites and web applications that meet security and coding standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three or more years of software development experience focused on WordPress and web development.
• Experience building and maintaining public-facing WordPress sites using HTML, CSS, PHP and JavaScript.
• Working knowledge of WordPress administration, including theme customization and plugin management.
• Familiarity with web accessibility standards and version control practices.

Responsibilities

• Reviews WordPress site documentation and production results to resolve issues and identify root causes.
• Develops complex WordPress themes, custom plugins, and full‑stack web applications per specifications.
• Writes PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 code following WordPress standards and internal guidelines.
• Tests WordPress themes, plugins, and web apps across browsers and accessibility requirements.
