Yale Cancer Center is looking for a Woolsey Hall Production Manager to oversee production activities at Woolsey Hall. In this pivotal role, you will manage operations for various events, ensuring everything runs smoothly while prioritizing safety.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in music production or related fields and at least five years of experience in production management. You will work closely with a diverse team to foster an inclusive environment, contributing to impactful artistic endeavors.
Reporting to the Director of Production, the Woolsey Hall Production Manager plays a key role as part of a dedicated and fast‑paced production department by advising and overseeing the production events and program activity in Woolsey Hall, a historic concert hall that is part of the Yale Schwarzman Center, the University’s first‑ever center for dining, student life, and the arts. This position works evenings and weekend hours with regularity.
The Woolsey Hall Production Manager supports all events and program production activity in Woolsey Hall. Reporting to the Director of Production and working closely with the other members of the production team, including the Woolsey Hall Event Lead, this role will oversee operations of Woolsey Hall, manager labor and workforce, maintain inventory and space usage, collaborate with other stakeholders of the Hall, participate in planning meetings, oversee space rental processes, and perform other ongoing responsibilities to support the smooth execution of events. The Woolsey Hall Production Manager will carry out duties while exercising a high degree of autonomy and discretion, while working to foster an inclusive and respectful working environment around production activity at the Center and on campus in general. Event management and live music experience preferred.

Manage production activity related to Schwarzman Center (SC) productions and programming. Collaborating with Director of Production, develop and implement production policies that ensure safe working conditions and high organizational and artistic standards.
Assume primary responsibility for production oversight for student- and faculty-produced events in a range of multi‑purpose venues. As designated, oversee or assist with load‑in, residency, and load‑out for professional touring productions in a range of venues.
Hire, advise, and/or supervise student and professional production staff for student- and faculty-produced productions. For a wide range of performance events, advise students, faculty, and staff throughout the production process in areas including, but not limited to, safety, production planning, budgeting, technical design, and design.
Evaluate student capabilities and, as needed, train, and mentor students and arrange supervision during strikes, load‑ins, supervised technical rehearsals, and performances.
Hire and manage staff and vendors responsible for A/V documentation of SC events.
Coordinate with internal and external partners including Yale College Undergraduate Production, Yale Hospitality, Yale Fire Code Compliance, New Haven Fire Dept, Yale Environmental Health and Safety, Risk Management, Faculty in Yale departments, programs, and schools.
Oversee production facilities, equipment, schedules. Oversee designated production and rehearsal venues. Ensure safety of production facilities at all times. Advise on equipment purchase. Lead and oversee the planning of upgrades to venues and equipment. Manage vendors on site. Manage calendar for designated venues. Maintain and improve equipment and facilities in designated venues.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of 4 years of related experience; or the equivalent combination of education or experience.
