Job summary

VSR Industries in Henderson, NV is seeking an experienced carpenter to design, build, remodel, and maintain wood structures per blueprints and specifications. You will determine materials, prepare layouts, and mark cut lines to ensure precise fabrication.

The role involves cutting, assembly, and installation using common carpentry tools with emphasis on accuracy and safety. Regular inspections and tool upkeep are required; a pre-employment background check may apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years' remodeling or carpentry experience preferred.
• Ability to read simple plans and measure accurately.
• Familiarity with basic hand tools and shop safety.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, remodel, retrofit, and repair wood structures per blueprints.
• Determine materials and quantities for work orders from drawings.
• Prepare layouts and mark cut lines on materials.
• Operate chop saws, table saws, and routers to cut materials.
• Assemble components with brackets, screws, nails, and fasteners.
• Inspect finished work for conformance to specs and safety.
• Maintain and repair carpentry tools and shop equipment.

Job description

GENERAL DUTIES

• Work from blueprints, specifications, drawing and instructions to design, build, remodel, retrofit, and maintain and/or repair structure.
• Determine materials and equipment required for work orders based on blueprints and sketches.
• Prepares layout.
• Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials.
• Cuts materials to measurements using chop saws, table saws, and trim routers.
• Assembles cut materials and fasten together with brackets, screws, and/or nails.
• Marks, cuts, and shapes materials to prescribed measurements; assemble by fastening with nails, staples, dowels, or glue.
• Fits, installs, and maintains finished hardware such as locks and kick plates.
• Inspects completed work for conformance with specifications.
• Participate in the maintenance and operation of the wood shop.
• Maintains and repairs hand or power tools and equipment of the carpentry trade by cleaning, oiling, setting, or other processes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience of experience in remodeling of wood structures; furniture repair or construction; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have basic math skills, and accurately use a tape measure.
• Experience using basic hand tools (preferred.)
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
• Familiar with the following methods: dowel construction, butt joint construction, and dao construction.
• Must have good eye-hand coordination.
• Be able to understand basic directions in English (required)
• Pre-employment drug screen and background check are required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must be able to stand, walk and lift for up to 8 hours daily.
• Vision abilities requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth
• Required to lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 50 lbs. continually.
• May be required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Moderately loud noise levels in plant environment.
