Domtar in Thunder Bay, Ontario is seeking an experienced Area Manager to lead Northwestern Ontario Woodlands operations. This is a full-time role focused on safety, people development, contractor management and a reliable fibre supply to support our sawmills.

You will guide a forestry team, manage budgets, and collaborate with Indigenous communities and government partners. Ideal candidates have a minimum 10 years in forestry, strong leadership, budgeting experience and a commitment to

• Minimum 10 years of progressive forestry, harvesting, woodlands, or natural resource operations experience.
• Demonstrated leadership managing field operations, contractors, and professional staff.
• Strong understanding of sustainable forest management principles and regulatory requirements.
• Experience managing budgets, business plans, and operational performance metrics.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.

Responsabilidades

• Lead safety and environmental leadership, ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate safety requirements.
• Oversee fibre supply and woodlands operations to meet production, utilisation, and cost targets.
• Develop and manage annual operating budgets; drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor, coach and develop forestry professionals while promoting accountability and teamwork.
• Build relationships with contractors, Indigenous communities, and government agencies; liaise with Ontario Woodlands and Domtar operations.
