Veterans Leadership Program in Pittsburgh is seeking a Women Veterans Service Coordinator to provide case management and housing services for Women Veterans and their families experiencing homelessness. You will organize events, coordinate referrals, and advocate for client needs across the service area.

Key responsibilities include maintaining confidential records, leading Women Veterans groups, and building partnerships with housing providers and social services. Travel up to 50% is required.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Social Work or Social Science or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of three to five years in human services, case management or housing counseling preferred.
  • Act 33 and Act 34 clearances required; PA driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive case management, referrals to internal and external programs and financial assistance to Women Veterans and their families.
  • Support Veterans during their transition from homelessness to permanent housing through GPD Bridge housing for Women.
  • Foster relationships with community organizations and resources such as permanent housing providers and social service providers.
  • Maintain client files and ensure appropriate documentation while upholding confidentiality.
  • Participate in special events that publicize the organization and its programs.
  • Plan and lead Women Veterans groups throughout VLP’s service delivery area.
  • Schedule events to appeal to a wide range of interests and build partnerships for off-site activities.
  • Advocate for Veterans and VLP; build a network of volunteers.
  • Schedule public speaking events to connect Veterans to VLP resources.
  • Create Women Veterans Mentor Program for career development and networking.

Veterans Leadership Program

Veterans Leadership Program (VLP) is Western and Central Pennsylvania’s premier Veteran service organization. For 40 years, VLP has operated with a focus on empowering Veterans to navigate the transitions of life and supports every Veteran in reaching their fullest potential. With supportive and service-oriented expertise, VLP serves over 7,000 Veterans annually through comprehensive programs and partnerships. VLP is the largest provider of Veteran subsidized housing in Western Pennsylvania, operates two of the nation’s most effective employment programs, as well as holistic wellness and additional supports for Veterans and their families.

VLP is a team comprised of experienced leadership, support staff, and case managers including Veterans, National Guard, Army Reserve, family members of Veterans, and civiliansupporters who are deeply committed to assisting any and every Veteran.

Overview of Position

The Women Veterans Service Coordinator provides support and case management to Women Veterans and their families experiencing homelessness by providing permanent housing and supportive services. Organize events and gatherings for Women Veterans including family-friendly opportunities, virtual gatherings, and educational experiences.

Location: Pittsburgh with 50% travel
Principal Duties
  • Provide comprehensive case management, referrals to internal and external programs and financial assistance to Women Veterans and their families
  • Support Veterans during their transition from homelessness to permanent housing through GPD Bridge housing for Women
  • Foster and develop relationships with community organizations and resources such as permanent housing providers, social service providers, and family-based services
  • Maintain client files and ensure appropriate documentation
  • Maintain client confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA requirements at all times
  • Participate in special events that publicize the organization and its programs to the community
  • Plan and lead Women Veterans groups throughout VLP’s service delivery area
  • Build partnerships with organizations in order to hold events and groups off-site
  • Schedule topical activities and events to appeal to a wide range of interests
  • Advocate for Veterans, VLP, and build a network of volunteer support
  • Schedule public speaking events throughout service delivery area to connect Veterans to VLP resources
  • Create Women Veterans Mentor Program, providing career-focused development opportunities, empowerment, camaraderie, and networking for Women Veterans

Experience and Education
  • Undergraduate degree in Social Work or Social Science or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years successful experience in human services, case management or housing counseling preferred.
  • Act 33 and Act 34 clearances required.
  • Position requires a valid PA driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated related experience may be substituted for preferred education
