Job description

Purpose of Position and Scope of Responsibility: The Women's Soccer Assistant Coach supports the Head Women's Soccer Coach in all aspects of the university's women's soccer program. This position is responsible for assisting with the recruitment, development, and mentoring of student-athletes while promoting academic success, character development, and competitive excellence. The Assistant Coach helps foster a positive team culture that reflects the mission, values, and standards of the University and its athletic department, while ensuring compliance with all institutional and conference regulations.

Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Head Women's Soccer Coach in planning, organizing, and conducting team practices, training sessions, and game-day activities.
  • Provide technical and tactical instruction to student-athletes to enhance individual and team performance.
  • Assist with scouting opponents, analyzing game film, and developing practice and game strategies.
  • Recruit qualified prospective student-athletes in accordance with university, conference, and governing association rules and regulations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospective student-athletes, families, high school and club coaches.
  • Monitor and support the academic progress, personal development, and overall well-being of student-athletes.
  • Promote sportsmanship, discipline, leadership, and teamwork while serving as a positive role model.
  • Assist with scheduling team travel, equipment management, and other operational needs of the program.
  • Support fundraising initiatives, alumni engagement, community outreach, and youth camps as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with all University, conference, and applicable athletic association policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with athletic department staff to support student-athlete success and departmental goals.
  • Assist with administrative duties including recordkeeping, recruiting databases, budget tracking, and program communications as assigned.
  • Represent the University and the women's soccer program in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
  • Performs related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.

Previous coaching/playing experience.

2+ years of collegiate coaching experience

Physical Requirements:

Work requires the physical demands of standing, bending, lifting, stooping or performing other work requiring light physical exertion (up to 30 pounds) on an occasional basis (up to 15% of time) and frequent walking; or moderate physical exertion (up to 50 pounds) on an intermittent basis (not a routine part of the job).

Work involves intermittent to occasional exposure to unpleasant working conditions or undesirable elements; may involve some contact with potentially hazardous or harmful elements in providing administrative or support services.
