Job summary

Westmoreland County Community College seeks an Assistant Coach for Women’s Basketball to assist the Head Coach in managing the team for fall and spring seasons. You will help with tryouts, practices, safety, and day-to-day operations.

The role requires strong communication, the ability to work with a diverse community, knowledge of basketball rules, and recruitment from both college students and local high schools. CPR certification and a valid driver’s license are preferred.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer-service skills.
• Demonstrated ability to interact professionally and confidentially with the college community and the public.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations with discretion and good judgment.
• Proven ability to work independently with good decision-making.
• Strong knowledge of basketball rules and governing bodies.
• Knowledge of running structured practices, game plans, and in-game corrections.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Coach with player tryouts after Oct 1.
• Assist with equipment and uniform distribution/collection.
• Support practice sessions, ~1.5 hours each.
• Ensure safety procedures during coaching.
• Serve as liaison between Director of Athletics and opposing teams.
• Ensure proper conduct at home/away games and practices.
• Assist with organizing WPCC/Regional tournaments hosted by college.
• Report game scores and summaries to Athletic office.
• Assist with statistics uploads to NJCAA site.
• Assist recruitment from college population and local high schools.
