MedStar Health is seeking a Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse to advise patients, staff, and physicians on ostomy and continence care across inpatient and outpatient settings.

The role emphasizes preoperative counseling, patient education, and the development of care plans. Applicants should have DC RN licensure, CWOCN certification, and at least two years of nursing practice with leadership experience, with potential for 6 months to complete certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Wound Ostomy Continence certification program accredited by WOCN Society.
• Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
• Two years of professional nursing practice with direct patient care and leadership experience.
• DC RN licensure required; CWOCN certification required; candidates in process may complete within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Provides consultation to patients, staff and physicians on ostomy and continence care.
• Provides preoperative counseling and outpatient follow-up for ostomy patients.
• Assesses and develops education programs for patients and staff.
• Determines and recommends ostomy products for hospital use.
• Participates in research and educational projects as requested.
• Generates reports and maintains patient records per guidelines.
