Job summary

Wakefern Food Corp. is seeking a hands-on application engineer with warehouse and supply chain experience. You will translate operational problems into scalable applications using Node.js, Java, Python, and AI-enabled capabilities.

Own full lifecycle, from discovery through deployment, with strong emphasis on automation and reliability. Responsibilities include building integrations across WMS, ERP, and order management, optimizing throughput, and ensuring data quality and security in AI-enabled

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience designing, developing, implementing, or supporting business-critical warehouse/supply chain applications.
• Hands-on development with Node.js/JavaScript or TypeScript, Java, and Python.
• Strong SQL and relational database skills, including data analysis and production troubleshooting.
• Experience designing or consuming REST APIs, event-driven interfaces, and batch or real-time processing.
• Knowledge of WMS processes (receiving, putaway, inventory, picking, shipping).
• Practical understanding of AI concepts, retrieval-based solutions, and responsible use.
• Ability to decompose ambiguous business problems and deliver maintainable solutions with limited oversight.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills across application, integration, and data layers.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with warehouse, distribution, and supply chain teams to translate operational challenges into technical requirements and designs.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support applications, services, APIs, and integrations using Node.js, Java, Python, SQL, and cloud technologies.
• Own solutions through full software lifecycle including architecture, coding, testing, release readiness, and production support.
• Build and enhance integrations among WMS, ERP, order management, and other supply chain platforms.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve throughput, accuracy, and reliability.
• Evaluate AI capabilities for exception analysis, workflow automation, and decision support.
• Establish controls for AI outputs including data quality and security.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, security, vendors, and stakeholders; document architecture and procedures.
