Under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Assistant Surgical Technician will participate as a perioperative team member by performing various direct and indirect tasks for patients undergoing surgical procedures. Responsibilities include:
The technician must be able to perform assigned support tasks independently, with initiative and proper judgment. The role requires familiarity with hospital operations and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Constantly (75% or more of the time): Standing, walking, reaching, twisting, lifting and carrying 0-5 lbs., repetitive instrument passing.
Frequently (25-75% of the time): Lifting and carrying 5-25 lbs., pushing and pulling 5 to >100 lbs. (help available for >40 lbs.).
Occasionally (5-25% of the time): Sitting with back support, overhead and lateral reaching, stooping, crouching, balancing, operating power tools, exposure to hazards.
Rarely (under 5% of the time): Sitting without back support, kneeling, climbing, crawling, exposure to vibration, fumes, and physical hazards.
Visual acuity, auditory perception for conversation, monitoring equipment, and distinguishing hot/cold, sharp/dull sensations.
