Job description

Client is looking for a deep technical expert in Wi-Fi who can not only help close deals but also shape the narrative of our product. In this unique hybrid role, you will spend approximately 70% of your time as a Systems Engineer (SE), acting as the technical subject matter expert for our customers, designing complex wireless networks, and winning architectural battles. The remaining 30% is dedicated to Technical Marketing (TME) duties, where you will distill your field insights into white papers, competitive analysis, and reference architectures that fuel the broader sales engine.

You will be the bridge between the \"Field / Customer\" and the “Product / Engineering”

What You Will Do

As a Systems Engineer (70%)

  • Own the Technical Win: Partner with Account Executives to drive Wi-Fi revenue. Lead technical discovery, conduct site survey analysis, and deliver \"proof of concept\" (PoC) engagements that prove cleint'’s superiority over legacy competitors (Cisco, Aruba, Juniper/Mist).
  • Cognitive Campus Architect: Design scalable, secure wireless solutions using client’s CloudVision CUE (Cognitive Unified Edge). Demonstrate how our AI/ML root-cause analysis reduces Mean Time to Innocence (MTTI) for network admins.
  • Hands-On Demonstrations: Build and maintain your own demo labs. Show, don’t just tell. You will demonstrate features like Client Journey, Automated Root Cause Analysis, and Zero Trust Security directly to CIOs and Network Architects.
  • RF Engineering: Perform predictive designs (Ekahau/Hamina) and validation surveys. You are the authority on RF propagation, roaming behaviors, and 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6/6E) mechanics.

As a Technical Marketing Engineer (30%)

  • Content Creation: Author technical white papers, \"Client vs. Competitor\" battlecards, and deployment guides based on real-world scenarios you encounter in the field.
  • Feedback Loop: You are the primary conduit for feature requests. Translate customer pain points into Engineering Requirement Documents (ERDs) for our Product Management team.
  • Scripting & Automation: Create Python scripts or Ansible playbooks that demonstrate the programmability of client’s wireless stack, helping customers automate their own Day 2 operations.
  • Wireless Expert: You don't just know how to configure an AP; you understand 802.11 frame exchanges, CSMA/CA, and can read a packet capture like a book.
  • Evangelist: You can explain \"Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA)\" to a technical architect and \"Business Value\" to a CIO in the same meeting.
  • Hands-on: You love breaking things in the lab to see how they work. You likely have a home lab running client's EOS, Linux, or Home Assistant.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 5+ years in a pre-sales engineering or technical consulting role specifically focused on Enterprise Wi-Fi.
  • Certifications: Industry certifications like CWNA or CWNE is highly preferred. Vendor-specific certs (CCIE Wireless, ACBX, JNCIE-Mist) are valued as proof of prior knowledge.
  • Technical Stack:
  • Deep expertise in Wi-Fi 6/6E, Wi-Fi 7, WPA3, and Roaming logic.
  • Proficiency with Ekahau AI Pro or Hamina.
  • Working knowledge of wired switching (VLANs, VXLAN/EVPN, POE) and how it integrates with Wireless.
  • Familiarity with Python, REST APIs, or JSON is a massive differentiator.
  • Communication: Exceptional writing skills. Please be prepared to share a sample of a technical document or blog post you have written.
