What You Can Expect In This Role

Analyze and apply all federal and state statutory withholding requirements, and unclaimed property for all Companies and lines of business. Executing federal and state withholding deposits, and unclaimed property filings and required mailings according to statutory requirements. Recognize, research and recommend resolution to tax withholding issues. Assist with filing of Information Reporting Forms (1099R, 5498, 1042S, 1099LTC, 1099MISC, 1099INT, Puerto Rico Series). Utilize technology and drive projects in support of regulatory changes, team objectives, and for continuous process improvement. Work with all related Sammons Financial Group Companies' teams across all locations collaboratively reflecting our corporate shared values while maintaining strict confidentiality over appropriate information.

What You’ll Do In This Role
  • Apply extensive knowledge of Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and State regulations to research and resolve various tax reporting, and unclaimed property issues.
  • Accountable for timely and accurate completion of Internal Revenue Service (IRS), all State, and Puerto Rico withholdings filings, including tracking and receiving back of refunds, and balancing of subsidiary accounts.
  • Accountable for timely and accurate completion of State Unclaimed Property Filings, maintaining any necessary work papers and subsidiaries.
  • Assist in the preparation of Internal Revenue Service (IRS) filings for 1099R, 5498, 1042S, 1099LTC, 1099MISC, 1099INT, Puerto Rico series information reporting forms, including coordination of mailing, printing, and imaging for all Companies.
  • Direct communication with regulatory bodies (IRS or State Regulatory bodies) and coordinate with and support communications, including any auditors, in areas of responsibility.
  • Communicate effectively with areas outside of Corporate Accounting to identify and implement projects that impact state and federal withholding, unclaimed property, as well as, tax form 1099 Series, 1042S, 5498, Puerto Rico Series, 972CG and CP2100.
  • Apply extensive knowledge of Sammons Financial Group technology platforms, programming jobs, or new technology in order to effectively implement changes in the organization that impact federal and state withholding, unclaimed property, and tax form 1099 Series, 1042S, 5498, Puerto Rico Series, 972CG and CP2100.
  • Apply knowledge of the Sammons Financial Group entities, business units, chart of accounts, processes and controls in order to effectively implement changes in the organization that impact federal and state withholding and unclaimed property.
  • Develop and maintain effective, positive and collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders across the organization including several geographic locations.
  • Produce various analytical reports, research items or trends that are unusual and communicate findings to manager.
  • Maintain written procedural documentation for all assigned tasks and adhere to written processes and procedures in support of the required internal controls.
  • Support the PAIRUP team in special assignments and projects as deemed necessary to meet departmental goals.
  • Coach, train, mentor and motivate the activities of other PAIRUP new members.
  • The workload may occasionally demand additional work outside of the company's standard 40-hour work week, specifically during tax season.
  • Demonstrate collaborative team skills within and outside of Corporate Accounting and the ability to work in a positive fashion toward common organization goals.

What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or relevant business field Preferred

  • Criminal background check required.
  • FINRA regulations require fingerprinting for this position. Management reserves the right to determine and approve incumbent suitability for this position.

Salary Range Information

USD $40,223.00 - USD $75,419.00 /Yr. Range includes data points from multiple labor markets. Specific range is dependent on the labor market where the incumbent will be hired to perform the position. Starting salary is dependent on candidate qualifications and experience. For a narrower salary range specific to your labor market, please inquire.
