Job summary

Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) is hiring a Regional Economic Development Director to lead initiatives across Wisconsin’s designated counties from a remote-first setting. The role reports to the Senior Economic Development Director and drives growth by aligning resources with community and business needs.

The role requires a long track record in economic development, strong stakeholder management, and the ability to travel statewide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ten+ years in economic development or related field.
• Residency in the assigned Wisconsin region (see counties list).
• Experience working with businesses, communities, financial partners, and economic development organizations.
• Strong project management, relationship-building, and customer service skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Frequent statewide travel including overnight travel (>30%).

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted advisor to businesses, communities, and economic development partners within the assigned region.
• Identify and support development opportunities through strategic consultation and resource deployment.
• Manage a portfolio of regional accounts and build relationships with local stakeholders and partner organizations.
• Review projects and provide recommendations related to economic and community development investments.
• Assist with financing strategies, program implementation, and access to resources.
• Monitor project performance and support ongoing compliance and reporting activities.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to advance regional goals.
• Represent WEDC at meetings, conferences, and public events across the region.
