Job summary

Vertiv Group Corporation is seeking an Electrical Wiring Technician in the United States for wiring of control enclosures and panels. You will read schematics, assemble backplanes, and ensure quality and safety in a manufacturing setting.

You will route cables, terminate wiring, and perform basic testing with multimeters, while following strict documentation practices. This role emphasizes attention to detail and teamwork in a lean manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with hand tools, wire strippers, crimpers, and testing equipment (e.g., multimeters).

• Basic computer skills for documentation and work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Wiring & Assembly: perform point-to-point wiring of control enclosures, panels, and backplanes according to schematics and work instructions.
• Cable Routing & Termination: route, cut, strip, crimp, and terminate wires with proper labeling.
• Blueprint Interpretation: read electrical schematics and BOMs to complete assemblies accurately.
• Quality Assurance: inspect work to ensure proper connections and adherence to standards.
• Testing & Troubleshooting: conduct continuity checks and basic functional testing; fix issues as needed.
• Material Handling: gather materials, components, and tools for each build.
• Documentation: complete production records, checklists, and quality records on time.
• Safety & Housekeeping: follow safety procedures and wear PPE; maintain clean work area.
• Continuous Improvement: identify process improvements and support lean manufacturing.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Wiring & Assembly: Perform point-to-point wiring of control enclosures, panels, and backplanes according to schematics, blueprints, and work instructions.

• Cable Routing & Termination: Route, cut, strip, crimp, and terminate wires and cables while ensuring proper labeling and identification.

• Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials to accurately complete assemblies.

• Quality Assurance: Inspect completed work to verify proper connections, wire routing, and compliance with quality and workmanship standards.

• Testing & Troubleshooting: Perform continuity checks and basic functional testing; identify and correct wiring issues or discrepancies.

• Material Handling: Gather required materials, components, and tools; ensure correct parts are used for each build.

• Documentation: Complete production documentation, checklists, and quality records accurately and on time.

• Safety & Housekeeping: Follow all safety procedures, wear required PPE, and maintain a clean and organized work area.

• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and support lean manufacturing initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED
• Previous experience in electrical wiring, panel building, or manufacturing environment preferred
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
• Familiarity with hand tools, wire strippers, crimpers, and testing equipment (e.g., multimeters)
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
• Basic computer skills for documentation and work instructions

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

• Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds continuously throughout the workday.
• Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, push and pull.

• Ability to climb and descend ladders, stairs, platforms, and work areas safely as required by the position

Work Environment

The employee will work in a manufacturing environment and may be exposed to:

• The need to work safely around manufacturing processes and equipment while following all applicable safety policies and procedure
• Varying temperatures, including temperatures occasionally above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
• Moderate to high levels of noise in designated production areas.
• Outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, rain, and other environmental elements, as business needs require.
• Welding operations, including exposure to welding arcs, sparks, heat, and airborne particulates in designated production areas.
