• Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and basic shop equipment.

• Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast‑paced production environment.
• Willingness to follow all safety guidelines and wear required PPE.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical Assembly: Assemble metal enclosures, frames, and subassemblies for switchgear systems following drawings and work instructions.
• Component Installation: Install hardware such as doors, hinges, panels, gaskets, and brackets with hand and power tools.
• Precision Layout: Use calipers, rulers, and squares to ensure proper alignment and fit.
• Drilling & Modifying: Drill holes, tap threads, and perform minor modifications as needed.
• Quality Assurance: Inspect assemblies for accuracy and finish; report defects to meet quality standards.
• Documentation & Reporting: Complete production checklists and assembly records accurately.
• Safety & Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized area and follow safety procedures.

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and safety-consciousMechanical Fitter (2nd shift)to join our manufacturing team. In this hands-on role, you will assemble mechanical components and enclosures for low and medium-voltage switchgear products based on engineering drawings and specifications. Your work ensures reliable, high-performance equipment for our global customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Mechanical Assembly:Assemble metal enclosures, frames, and mechanical subassemblies for switchgear systems following blueprints, layout drawings, and work instructions.
• Component Installation:Install mechanical hardware such as doors, hinges, panels, gaskets, and brackets using hand and power tools.
• Precision Layout:Use measuring devices such as calipers, rulers, and squares to ensure proper alignment and fit of parts and assemblies.
• Drilling & Modifying:Drill holes, tap threads, and make minor modifications to metal components as needed to support custom builds or design adjustments.
• Quality Assurance:Inspect completed assemblies for accuracy, proper fit, and finish; report or correct any defects to meet product quality standards.
• Documentation & Reporting:Accurately complete production checklists, assembly records, and other required documentation.
• Safety & Housekeeping:Maintain a clean and organized work area; adhere to safety procedures when working with tools, equipment, and materials.

What You Bring

• Prior experience in mechanical assembly or fabrication in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and layout diagrams.
• Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and basic shop equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment.
• Willingness to follow all safety guidelines and wear required personal protective equipment.

Working Conditions

• This position may require standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and using tools or equipment that require manual dexterity.
• Exposure to noise, sharp tools, and metal components in a manufacturing setting.
• Flexibility to work shifts or overtime as needed.

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

• Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds continuously throughout the workday.
• Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, push and pull.
• Perform grasping, handling, and repetitive hand and arm movements.
• Maintain manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination sufficient to operate tools, equipment, machinery controls, and computer devices as required.
• Safely operate hand tools, light power tools, and rotating equipment as required by the position.
• Wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the position.
• Ability to climb and descend ladders, stairs, platforms, and work areas safely as required by the position

Work Environment

The employee will work in a manufacturing environment and may be exposed to:

• The need to work safely around manufacturing processes and equipment while following all applicable safety policies and procedure
• Varying temperatures, including temperatures occasionally above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
• Moderate to high levels of noise in designated production areas.
• Outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, rain, and other environmental elements, as business needs require.
• Welding operations, including exposure to welding arcs, sparks, heat, and airborne particulates in designated production areas.
