Wireless RF OTA Cellular Validation Engineer

Cupertino, California, United States | Hardware

Description

- Validate OTA Cellular test cases for various carrier and industry conformance requirements in certification test setups.

- Translate industry conformance, regulatory, and carrier specifications into test cases. Coordinate with regulatory compliance and carrier management teams to ensure comprehensive product validation covering all certification and performance tests.

- Define and execute validation plans for custom software features.

- Debug marginal or failing tests in collaboration with cross-functional teams such as RF hardware, antennas, product design, and electrical engineering, and drive design modifications to resolve issues.

- Maintain test setups through periodic checks and calibration.

- Lead planning and execution of radiated certification testing at third-party labs for PTCRB and CTIA standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with antenna design and testing, wave propagation, anechoic chambers, and radiation performance evaluation (TRP & TIS).
• Proficiency with lab equipment such as network analyzers, signal generators, call boxes (e.g., CMW, UXM, 8960), and channel emulators.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a technical discipline with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with wireless systems including GSM, GPRS, EDGE, LTE, 5G mmWave, and related specifications.
• Knowledge of carrier and industry conformance radiated performance requirements like 3GPP, PTCRB, CTIA, ETSI.
• Experience with device setup and log analysis.
• Programming skills in C, C++, Python, or similar languages.

At Apple, base pay is part of a comprehensive compensation package, determined within a range based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. The salary range for this role is $175,800 to $312,200.
