Job summary

Amazon is seeking an embedded software engineer for the Leo MAC-SW team in California. You will design, develop and test Leo-MAC firmware, working on ground networks, satellites, and customer terminals in a real-time embedded setting.

You will collaborate across functions to meet performance targets and ensure robust FW/HW interfaces. The role requires hands-on coding, debugging, and optimization in RTOS or bare-metal environments, with a focus on scalable, reliable software in a cutting-edge

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability and scaling).
• Experience programming in at least one software language.

Responsibilities

• Define multi-dimensional performance requirements (e.g., MIPs, memory BW).
• Make performance and optimization trade-offs to meet end-to-end use case requirements.
• Build component test-cases and debug FW in Leo embedded environment.
• Profile and run code on RTOS and bare-metal environments.
• Define and test FW-HW interfaces and services.
• Follow SW/FW best practices (clean architecture, refactoring).

Project Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

As a member of Leo MAC-SW, you will be responsible for delivering embedded FW code running on ground networks on customer terminals and on satellites. Come and join the innovative and unique wireless project Leo. You would be focused on designing, developing and testing complete Leo-MAC FW. You will be a key member of a cross functional team of innovators, working on unique wireless technology that will enable millions of people to stay connected. Design, develop, integrate and bring up Leo-MAC FW components/drivers in a real-time embedded environment

Export Control Requirement:

Key job responsibilities

• Working in a cross-functional environment to define multi-dimensional performance requirements (e.g., MIPs, memory BW)

• Make performance and optimization trade-offs to meet end-to-end use case requirement

• Build component use-cases/test-cases and debug your code in Leo embedded environment

• Profile and execute the code on RTOS and/or bare-metal embedded environment

• Contribute in defining services and functionalities delivered by your FW-subsystems

• Define, document, test and debug your FW-HW interfaces

• Familiarity with SW/FW best practices (e.g., clean architecture, refactoring, …)

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
