Job summary

Archer Aviation in San Jose, California, is seeking an aerospace electrical engineer to design and install aircraft wiring harnesses for an all-electric VTOL.

You will use Mentor Graphics Capital, HarnessXC and Logic to create diagrams, define wiring, and collaborate with avionics, power plant and electrical teams. A degree and 3+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering and design of aircraft wiring.
  • Experience using Wiring CAD software: Mentor Graphics Capital, HarnessXC and Logic.
  • Hands on experience in the processes involved in fabricating, installing, and inspecting harnesses.
  • Effective communicator, comfortable working cross-functionally with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Create wiring diagrams and associated wire harness drawing documentation using Mentor Graphics Capital, Logic and HarnessXC.
  • Understand and implement communication protocols (ARINC, CAN, Ethernet, Serial).
  • Follow industry best practices and guidance for the design and installation of the wire harnesses (AC 43.13-1B, AS50881, ASTM F2639).
  • Work with avionics, power plant and electrical engineering teams to define the system architecture and wiring connections, including grounding schemes and EMI mitigation strategies.
  • Generate wiring harness designs for test lab specific needs (tap ins, relays, data logging, switches, power supplies).
  • Use your knowledge of industry standard components to select optimal parts to suit specific design applications and requirements.
  • Maintain, organize, and expand electrical component library within the CAD toolset for use across project design tasks.
  • Assist in lab bring up, test and operation, and offer resolutions and rework instructions when required.
  • Use strong configuration and change management skills to produce and modify wiring designs within the aircraft design framework.

Compensation

At Archer, we aim to attract, retain, and motivate talent with the skills and leadership needed to grow our business. We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company's strategy. For this position, we are targeting a base pay range of $144,000 - $198,000. Actual compensation offered will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
