Job summary

Sumitomo Electric Carbide Manufacturing in Wisconsin seeks an experienced Wire EDM Operator/Programmer to set up, operate, and optimize FANUC and Sodick equipment, including Vollmer machines, to produce high-precision carbide components.

You will develop CNC programs from drawings, verify tolerances, perform routine maintenance, and work with maintenance staff. A minimum of 1 year with FANUC/Sodick is required; a $2,000 hiring bonus and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

1+ years experience as Wire EDM Operator/Programmer.
Knowledge of machine shop practices and operations.
Good communication and ability to follow directions.
Basic math, logical reasoning and problem solving.
Able to lift 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate Wire EDM/Vollmer machines (FANUC/Sodick) to produce high-precision components.
Cutting carbide and PCD.
Monitor machine performance, adjust and troubleshoot to ensure continuous production.
Load/unload work pieces, install/align tooling, and make necessary machine adjustments.
Develop and optimize CNC programs for Wire EDM/Vollmer based on drawings/specs.
Maintain tight tolerances and high-quality standards.
Conduct routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance.
Identify and report equipment issues to maintenance staff.
