Job summary

Battlefield Middle School in Fredericksburg, VA seeks an energetic Athletic Coach for winter wrestling to develop a competitive, representative team, emphasizing teamwork, leadership, character, and sportsmanship.

The head coach will supervise staff, coordinate with the Athletic Director, manage equipment, oversee safety, and recruit support personnel while maintaining academic standards. This is a fixed-term contract position with a stipend.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED and must be 18 years of age.
• One year of coaching experience in the sport assigned.
• CPR and/or First Aid certification or ability to enroll and complete training.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Athletic Director and Principal in hiring/retention of Assistant Coaches.
• Directs, supervises, and evaluates the performance of all Assistant Coaches.
• Ensures athletes have medical examinations before practice begins.
• Organizes recruitment and development of support staff (equipment manager, scorekeepers, etc.).
• Oversees training, conditioning, and performance of the varsity team.
• Maintains records and conducts observations during practices and contests.
• Ensures proper insurance coverage and facility readiness for events.
