Job summary

The coach will supervise varsity and junior teams, assist in staff hiring, manage equipment and inventory, and coordinate with the Athletic Director to ensure safety and compliance across the program.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 18 years of age required.
• One year of coaching experience in the sport assigned.
• CPR and First Aid Certification or ability to enroll and complete a CPR and First Aid training course.
• Preferred: 21 years of age.
• Current teacher or classified employee of Spotsylvania County Public Schools (SCPS) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining high academic standards for student-athletes.
• Assist Athletic Director and Principal in hiring/retention of Assistant Coaches.
• Direct, supervise, and evaluate Assistant Coaches.
• Ensure proper insurance coverage for athletes in cooperation with Athletic Director.
• Lead training, conditioning, and performance of varsity team; supervise Assistant Coaches.
• Be a positive influence on athletes and staff behavior.
• Attend varsity and as many JV and freshman contests as possible; supervise at meets.
• Advise on officials and equipment needs; manage inventory and facilities condition.
