Job summary

DCS Asset Maintenance (DCSAM) is seeking reliable CDL drivers to help keep Virginia roads clear during winter weather. This on-call position is needed during inclement weather events, with pay at $35/hour and paid travel time when on out-of-town assignments.

You will operate snowplow trucks, follow DOT/OSHA rules, perform pre/post-trip inspections, and coordinate with Dispatch. Travel and lodging are covered, and training is provided to get you season-ready.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Have a valid Class A or B CDL.
• Pass a DOT drug screen and MVR review.
• Have a clean driving record - no serious violations or multiple accidents within the past 5 years.
• Be willing to travel to snow locations and stay for the duration of the event (hotel, travel time, and per diem paid by DCS).
• Prior snowplow experience is helpful but not required.
• Must attend an 8-hour in-person snow training before the season starts.
• Work is needed, depending on winter weather events determined by VDOT.

Responsibilities

• Operate snowplow trucks safely and responsibly during winter storms.
• Follow all DOT, OSHA, and company safety rules.
• Do pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any issues right away.
• Communicate with your Route Manager or Dispatch about any unsafe situations or service needs.
• Take part in required safety meetings and training sessions.
• Help other drivers or routes when needed.
