Job summary

H2ajobs is seeking an experienced herder to manage large flocks on range terrain. The role includes moving ewes to lambing grounds, monitoring nutrition, and assisting with lambing and healthcare tasks. You will ensure water access and respond to weather and predator challenges while living on employer-provided housing.

Expect duties across feeding, branding, castration, tagging and worming, with on-site meals and transportation arranged by the employer. Experience minimum: 3 months.

Qualifications

• 3 months experience with 800-1000 head flocks or similar livestock.
• Ability to identify approaching storm periods and monitor water access.

Responsibilities

• Move pregnant ewes to lambing grounds and assist during labour.
• Identify signs of labour and assist during difficult births; graft orphan lambs as needed.
• Provide water and emergency supplemental feed; monitor nutrition.
• Disperse livestock, protect from predators, and assist with branding, tagging and worming.
• Housing, meals and transport are provided by the employer.
