Job summary

H2ajobs seeks a dedicated range ranch hand to attend to livestock on the winter range and support a small crew in isolated areas. Duties include roping for gentle immobilization, emergency minor medical care, water hauling, and feeding horses and dogs under challenging weather conditions.

Experience with horse handling, animal husbandry, and remote housing management is valued; housing and meals are provided, with transportation arrangements made by the employer.

Qualifications

• Experience handling and caring for horses and livestock.
• Ability to ride, handle, and tend horses safely.
• Ability to perform basic animal husbandry tasks to prevent hypothermia/illness.

Responsibilities

• Attend to livestock on range during winter, including roping to immobilize when needed.
• Administer emergency minor medical care to sick/injured animals.
• Assist with water hauling, feeding, sheltering, and watering of animals and dogs/horses.
• Guard against predators and herd livestock to grazing areas.
• Report water/forage/weather conditions to rancher.
