Job summary

Catamount Ski is seeking a Lift Operator to support safe and efficient operation of chair lifts and the safety of guests on the mountain. You will spend your day outdoors assisting guests of all skill levels, loading and unloading from lifts, in all weather conditions.

The role emphasizes safety, clear communication with guests and staff, and adherence to lift regulations. Experience with two-way radios and a flexible schedule is preferred to support peak times and seasonal operations.

Qualifications

• Ability to work harmoniously with a variety of people including the public.
• Excellent customer service skills and enjoy working with the public.
• Uniforms must be worn by employees visible to the public.
• Able to use two-way radios (speaking and listening).
• Able to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays.
• Drug-free workplace; may be subject to screening or background checks.
• Must be able to speak and read English, comprehend simple instructions.
• Maintain written logs, reports, and checklists.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety of fellow employees and guests, and personal safety.
• Provide courteous customer service and create positive memories for guests.
• Operate the assigned lift safely and efficiently per regulations.
• Inspect lift records and monitor conditions of lift machinery.
• Load, seat, and unload skiers and snowboarders safely and politely.
• Provide physical assistance to guests as required.
• Maintain lift area condition, including snow management and safety of walking surfaces.
• Ensure guests have proper credentials to access the lift system.
• Perform daily pre-operational checks and inspections for safe operation.
• Respond to emergencies and accidents per procedures.
• Communicate work instructions with coworkers and follow supervisor guidance.
• Perform other physical labor as needed.
