Job summary

OTHELLO HIGH SCHOOL is seeking a 2026-2027 Cheer Assistant Coach for the Winter Season. The role involves instructing cheer athletes, organizing practice, and coordinating with the Director of Athletics to strategize and ensure safety and sportsmanship.

The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, cheer coaching experience preferred, and completion of WIAA trainings. Duties include equipment distribution, event participation, and clear parent communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience coaching/playing cheerleading preferred.
• Must have First Aid/CPR per WIAA guidelines.
• Complete all WIAA trainings and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Instruct players in rules, equipment and techniques of cheerleading.
• Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities.
• Assess players, monitor during competition and inform the Director of Athletics.
• Determine game strategy.
• Follow district procedures in event of an athlete injury.
• Model sportsmanship and appropriate conduct toward players and spectators.
• Distribute uniforms, supplies and equipment to student athletes.
• Participate in banquets/awards and other team events.
• Maintain good communication with players and parents.
• Attend trainings or meetings as required by the Director of Athletics.
